Our last baby
On June 21st 2009 Addison Mae arrived into this world. Seeing how our second child, Katie Rose, still has no baby book, I thought that I would start right away on chronicling Addison's life. Addison's story actually starts on 9-11-01. Everyone remembers where they were that day.... the day the Twin Towers fell. I was on my way to our reproductive/fertility specialists. We were doing a cycle of in-vitro fertilization and my egg retrieval was scheduled for that morning. The OR was very somber that morning but the staff went about their duties very quietly. After I woke up from the anesthesia I was told that the retrieval was a success and they had retrieved 26 eggs (mind-boggling). 19 of them fertilized. We went on to transfer 2 fresh embryos (which became Riley and Owen) and the embryos that survived (7) were frozen for later use. Little did we know that that "later use" would mean MANY years later. In 2006 we attempted an embryo transfer. Three embryos were thawed. Two survived and were transferred but we did not get pregnant. TWO years later (October, 2008) four embryos were thawed and only ONE survived. The doctor transferred that one embryo and gave us a 25% chance of getting pregnant. 11 days later we were told that we were pregnant. And there begins the story of Addison....
